Active Week
The staff and children have all enjoyed a fun and energetic active week. The children have demonstrated fantastic sporting skills and shown great sportsmanship across all events. Some tried new sports, while others enjoyed showing off their skills in a sport that they already participate in.
The sponsored run ran smoothly throughout the day, one year group at a time. We are very proud of everyone, they all tried their best. A big thank you to all of the parents who assisted marshalling the run. Sponsorship money can be bought to school with forms in an envelope to be given to the class teachers. We will update you on the total amount raised after the half term holiday.
Nursery sports day took place this week in the KS2 playground. We welcomed lots of support from our families who encouraged the children in their races. The children's faces said it all, so much fun was had in the egg and spoon races, hurdles, bean bag races and water bucket races. More photographs can be viewed in our school gallery.
As sports day has taken place today, we will do a big Active Week report and share photographs after the half term holiday.

Travelling to school - Important Reminders
- Bicycles including adult bicycles should not be taken into our school playgrounds. Some bikes are being left against the fences that have the potential to fall onto children.
- Please remind your children that when scooting along pavements to and from school they must remember to be mindful and considerate of pedestrians.
- Children that cycle to school must always wear a cycle helmet.
Team Points obtained this week and those awarded at sports day will be shared in our
next newsletter.
Author Visits
Monday 11th June, we will be visited by popular children’s author Steven Butler. Steven's first novel, The Wrong Pong, was shortlisted for the prestigious Roald Dahl Funny Prize in 2009. Since then, he has written the bestselling Diary of Dennis the Menace fiction series, the picturebook Odd Dog, and The Nothing to See Here Hotel series, as well as hosting The Biggest Book Show on Earth for over 13,000 children and dozens of top-name authors. His latest book, Dog Diaries, is co-written with James Patterson.
You will be able to purchase signed copies of Stevens book after school.
Cath Howe will be visiting us on Thursday 14th June with her new book 'Ella on the Outside'. She will be running workshops for years 5 and 6.
She will be signing and selling her new book 'Ella on the Outside' after school. The book is suitable for for year 4 upwards.
Reviews:"Charming, subtle & incredibly – suddenly – moving, Ella On The Outside is one of those delightfully unclassifiable ‘thank god it’s in the world' books that @nosycrowbooks does so well.
"A fantastic, thought provoking and very realistic story about the challenges of school life"
Described as "A gripping story of lies, friendship, and blackmail" this is actually a real page-turner.
Energy Council
School councillor William D in year 3 has been inspired to create a new group called 'The Energy Council' who's focus will be on environmental issues.
He is looking for help with a logo design for the new group, and is running a drawing competition that is open to all years. There will be a box outside year 3 classrooms where entries can be placed until Friday 8th June.
There is a 50p entry fee, with all proceeds to go towards purchasing hedging for the KS1 playground to assist with pollution control in the playground.
William has demonstrated great initiative in creating this group, we hope your children will be encouraged to support him.
