School Tours
School tours for parents who are interested in applying for a place for their child in Nursery or Reception for September 2019 are now available to book. Support for ASD & Asperger Syndrome
The ASD and Asperger Syndrome Parent Support Group are holding a coffee morning for parents and carers on Thursday 18th October, from 9.15 - 10.45 am at Grand Avenue Primary School. Please see the flyer below for more information.
Masquerade Theatre Arts
Masquerade are running two workshops at Fern Hill over the October half term holiday, on Wednesday 24th - Thursday 25th October: 'Room on the Broom' for 4 - 7 year olds and 'Shrek' for children aged 7 and over. Please see the flyers below for further details and information on how to book.

Parent Consultations
Parent consultations for all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 will be held on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th October. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child's class teacher to discuss your child’s progress and how they are settling into the new school year.
Consultations can be booked via: https://fernhillprimary.parentseveningsystem.co.uk
The booking system will go live at 7.00 pm today, Friday 28th September, and will close at 12.00 pm on Thursday 11th October.
You will be able to book a ten minute consultation during the following times:
Wednesday 17th October - 4.00 pm – 7.00 pm
Thursday 18th October - 2.30 pm – 6.00 pm
There is an extra consultation date available for Nursery children only, on Monday 15th October from 9.00 am – 3.00 pm.
Please note that school closes at 2.00 pm on Thursday 18th October.
Parent Governor Election
Please remember that the deadline for proposing a candidate for the parent governor vacancy on the school’s Governing Body is midday on Tuesday 2nd October 2018. Prospective candidates should also submit a written personal statement (not exceeding 100 words) in support of their candidacy by this date. The original letter sent via ParentPay is attached below.

Macmillan Coffee Morning
A huge thank you to everyone who came along this morning and made our Macmillan Coffee Morning such a success! We had a fantastic array of delicious cakes and other treats on offer! Many thanks to all of you who so generously donated these. And of course, an equally big thank you to everyone who bought cakes at the coffee morning and helped raise funds for Macmillan. We will let you know the final total raised this morning as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!

The Swimming Gala
"On Thursday 27th September, 11 children from Fern Hill took part in a swimming gala at The Malden Centre, accompanied by Mrs Vincer and Mrs Sandys. We swam against 17 other schools and we came 4th! There was a choice of swimming strokes: front crawl, breaststroke and backstroke. There were boys and girls races as well as relays. We had lots of fun and enjoyed competing."

PSA Welcome for New Parents on Wednesday 3rd October

PSA Committee Meeting and 2017-18 AGM on Wednesday 3rd October
All parents are welcome to our first Committee meeting of the school year on Wednesday 3rd October from 7.30 to 9.00pm, immediately after the New Parents' Welcome meeting. You don't need to be currently involved with the PSA - please come along and you can find out more about what we do.
Dads' Breakfast
Unfortunately, we have had to move the date of our Dads' Breakfast from Friday 12th to Friday 19th October. Details on how to book a place at this very popular event will be coming home next week!
Second hand uniform sale
Thank you to all those who kindly donated items for our second hand uniform sale last week - and to everyone who came along and bought things. We raised a grand total of £154.60!
October Half Term Activities
Fit for Sport will be running their last Activity Camp at Fern Hill over the half term holiday, from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th October. They are offering a standard day from 9.30 am - 4.30 pm and an extended day from 8.30 am - 5.30 pm. We are waiting for confirmation from Fit for Sport regarding the INSET day on Monday 29th October and will let you know about arrangements for this as soon as possible.
