Reminders
Lunches for the Spring Term
Please don't forget to order lunches for the first two weeks back after the holiday by midnight this Sunday 15th December.
Last Day of Term
The last day of term is fast approaching! On Friday 20th December, school will close at 1.30 pm. It’s a mufti (non-uniform) day so children may wear their own clothes to school. Please collect your child promptly at 1.30 pm.
Parent Helpers
If you are a volunteer reader or regularly help in the classroom, please can you check with your class teacher to confirm if you are needed in school next week? Timetables tend to change in the last week of term, especially at this festive time of year! Thank you for your continuing support – it is greatly appreciated by all staff and the children you work with.
Child Measurement Programme
Children in Reception and Year 6 will have brought home a letter from the School Health Team regarding the National Child Measurement Programme. The school nurses will be in school on Monday 13th January to measure the children’s height and weight. If you do not want your child to take part in the programme, please let the School health Team know by telephone on 020 8549 6323 or by email to: ku19@yourhealthcare.org. If you did not receive a letter, please contact the school office.

A £3 delivery charge will apply to the order which will be delivered either to school before the end of term or to your home address during the Christmas break.
This week, Mrs Bahara has been taking lovely class and small group photographs of the children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 to celebrate their concert performances. Please look out for a ParentPay message next week with further details on how you can view and order them.
In January we will be making a difference to our local environment with the Fern Hill Plogging Club! Please see the attached letter for more information. If you would like your child to join the Fern Hill Plog-olution, please complete and return the reply slip by the end of term.
It's been a very happy and festive week at Fern Hill!
Well done to all the children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 who performed so brilliantly at their Winter Concerts. It was clear how much hard work and practice had gone into the performances – the children sang, and spoke, beautifully. Thank you to all the families who came to watch and celebrate the children’s impressive achievement. We're very much looking forward to the juniors' Winter Concert next Tuesday at All Saints Church.
Even Forest Fun has had a festive feel…Reception children loved doing Christmassy ground art…
On Wednesday, all our Nursery children came together for a joint Daisy class Christmas Party. After a party food lunch, games and dancing, they were treated to a very special interactive magic show from a professional children’s entertainer. The children laughed non-stop and as a reward for their super listening skills, they all went home with a medal too!
On Thursday, over 500 children and staff enjoyed a fabulous Christmas lunch together in the Large Hall. We’d like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful catering team, Vicky, Karen, Leigh, Venus and Sally-Anne, for serving up the delicious feast. Seconds, and thirds, were definitely in demand!
Finally, a huge THANK YOU to our PSA for transforming the Small Hall into such a magical space for the Family Present Stall. It’s been an absolute joy to see so many delighted children marching back from the Hall singing carols! There's lots of excitement among the older children too - we're looking forward to hearing all about the festive discos next week.
Today the children showed their support for other children all around the world by celebrating Christmas Jumper Day and wearing their Christmas jumpers to school. Thank you so much for all your donations to the Save the Children charity.
A special thank you to Laura P, Florence L, Lilly P-D and Ben R for all the hard work and dedication this week selling the craft items made by families in Kenya after school in support of The Lunchbowl Network.
We'll let you know next week how much we have raised for these two charities.

KS2 Festive Discos tonight!
Don’t forget that our fabulous festive discos for KS2 are tonight in the Main Hall. There are two separate discos:
- The Years 3 and 4 disco runs from 4.15 to 5.15pm and doors open at 4.00pm.
- The Years 5 and 6 disco runs from 6.00 to 7.00pm and doors open at 5.45pm.
There is no need to bring your printed tickets as all children booked into the discos are listed on our sign-in sheets. Please remember that all children must be signed in on arrival, and signed out when they are collected, by an adult. Children should be collected promptly at the end of each disco please.
No mobile phones are allowed at this event – any phones found will be taken for safekeeping by staff. There is no need for children to bring cash but they should bring water bottles with them which can be refilled during the evening. We hope all those KS2 children attending have a brilliant time at the discos tonight!
Family Present Stall
Thank you so much for all the amazing and generous donations we received for the Family Present Stall. The children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have had a wonderful time during school today choosing and wrapping their gifts. A very special thank you to all those parents who kindly gave up their time today to help on the Family Present Stall. We really appreciate your support.
