Reminders
Times of the school day
Since the start of term, a significant number of children have been late to school. The times of the school day are published on the website here. Please make every effort to ensure your child is at school on time, every day.
Bikes & scooters
Please do not leave bikes and scooters on site overnight or at the weekend, even if they are locked. The black gates next to school reception are often open in the evenings and over the weekend to allow access to both Fern Hill and The Kingston Academy for club providers. Please may we also remind you that bikes and scooters must not be ridden anywhere on the school site.

Please be aware that Parents' Evening will be held on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th March. On Thursday 30th March, school will close early at 1:30 pm to allow for face to face Parent's Evening appointments. School will also close early the following day, Friday 31st March, which is the last day of term.
We have three new members of staff joining us: Ms Novakova, Lunchtime Supervisor; Mrs Hashmi, Teaching Assistant; and Mrs Foskett in the school office. Welcome to Fern Hill!
Volunteering in School
Today you will have received a letter from Mrs Davies, inviting you to volunteer in school. We would like to thank all the parents and carers who have already given their time this year; you make a real difference.
If you would like to volunteer to help in school, supporting the children with their reading or in the classroom, please complete this form. You will need to attend one of the short introduction and training sessions Mrs Davies is running on Tuesday 31st January at 2:30 pm and Wednesday 1st February at 9:00 am. For safeguarding purposes, all volunteers in school must complete this training so if you are already volunteering in school and were not able to attend one of the sessions in October, please complete the form to indicate which of these additional sessions you will attend. Thank you. For further information, please refer to the letter from Mrs Davies attached below.
Book of the Week
'Adam-2' by Alastair Chisholm
Adam-2 has been hiding in a basement repeating the same daily routine, as per his father’s instructions, for more than 200 years, when he is discovered by two children and learns that the world has vastly changed since he last left the basement. The humans and the robots have been at war for many years, each trying to destroy the other. But Adam is different to the other robots, and he may hold the key to ending the war once and for all. 'Adam-2' is a thrilling sci-fi read packed with action, drama and robots. It was also shortlisted for last year's Spark! School Book Awards in the 9-11 age category.~ Mrs Rouillard, School Librarian
