School lunches
Please don't forget to place your child's order for lunch through ParentPay by 8:00 am on the day. There will be a Disney-themed day on Thursday 16th January and you can view the menu here.
This half-term's Home Learning activities are posted on your Home Learning Google Classrooms. Work should be completed in time for the class Home Learning Showcase at school on Friday 14th February.
Curriculum Evening
Unfortunately, we are rescheduling the Curriculum Evening again. It will now be held on Wednesday 12th February. The Curriculum Evening is hosted by the Senior Leadership Team and covers a variety of whole school topics.
Welcome back to the spring term!
We hope you had a restful break and that the children have enjoyed their first week back. We have an exciting term ahead!
Parents' Evening will be held on Wednesday 2nd April from 4:00–7:00 pm and Thursday 3rd April from 2:00–6:00 pm. On Thursday 3rd April, school will close at 1:30 pm to allow for Parent's Evening appointments. School will also close early, at 1:30 pm the following day, Friday 4th April, which is the last day of the spring term.
Author Visit
On Tuesday 21st January, author David Barker will be visiting children in Years 3-6 to talk about his dystopian series, ‘London Falling’. If you would like to purchase a personalised signed copy of one of David’s books, then please make payment via ParentPay by Thursday 16th January. If you miss the deadline, there will be a small number of books available to purchase on the day.
Parent Council Newsletter
The Senior Leadership Team is always looking to improve communication between home and school and to take the needs and thoughts of the Fern Hill community into account when making key strategic decisions. The Parent Council is a means by which the whole school parental voice can be heard, through termly Parent Council meetings with Mr Scott, and whole school surveys. The Parent Council shares the discussions and progress of key initiatives through their newsletters.
In the summer of 2024, we invited your feedback on the school's Sport & Exercise provision and the latest Parent Council newsletter linked here outlines the provision currently in place and what's planned following your feedback.
Our next Coffee Morning is on Wednesday 29th January and will focus on strategies to support your child with their emotional regulation. Mrs Stephenson will share best practice on zones of regulation, routine and consistency. If you would like to join us, please let us know via this linked form. We hope to see many of you there. You can find the dates of forthcoming Coffee Mornings in the Key Dates document.
