The Lunchbowl Network School Shoe Campaign

The Lunchbowl Network School Shoe Campaign

On the last day of term, we are collecting school shoes on behalf of one of our linked charities, The Lunchbowl Network. They will be sending the shoes to the children they support in Kenya.

If you have a pair of unwanted shoe shoes that you would like to donate, please drop them off on Wednesday 22nd July between 8:20 am – 2:00 pm at one of the collections points at school – opposite the KS1 (infant) playground or outside school reception. Shoes should be paired, clean and in good condition and placed into one of the clear bags provided at the collection points. Please remember to remove any name labels from the shoes.

We plan to have another collection in September so please hold onto to any school shoes you wish to donate if you are not coming into school on Wednesday.

Thank you to Ami in Year 2 for this fantastic poster!

We supported this initiative two years ago and last autumn, the children had a visit from Heidi Gomes, a volunteer School Ambassador with The Lunchbowl Network, who shared photos of the children in Kenya receiving and wearing the shoes they had donated.

The Lunchbowl Network was set up fifteen years ago to help orphaned and vulnerable children living in Kiberia, a very poor district of Nairobi in Kenya. Initially, the charity offered 450 children a good lunch on a Saturday; now they provide the children with access to education and route out of poverty through their nursery and primary school. You can find out more about the work of The Lunchbowl Network here.
