Year 6 Visit the Synagogue
Willow Class enjoyed a visit to the Kingston synagogue this week, Mark & Noa have written a short report.
Noa: ‘I found it very interesting how other cultures have similar beliefs. The scroll was very decorative and you couldn't’t touch it; it was made of animal skin! The synagogue looked like a normal building but had the shape of a church. There was a stained glass window which represented the story of Moses and his people.’
Mark: ‘ It was a great experience to see what they do differently to similar cultures. We ate some bread that they said they brought from a shop. I did not know that the Jewish bread is sold in supermarkets! Some people there explained what they do, and their festivals. I knew what the “Moses story” was because I am Christian. This was one of my favourite trips and I hope the year 5's will enjoy the trip to the synagogue as well as we did.

PSA News
Christmas Fair – Friday 8th December, 3.00-5.00 pm
Thank you to all the parents, children and local businesses who gave so generously to the Christmas Fair tombola and festive hamper collection today. There is still time to contribute if you would like to and you can leave donations with the school office.
Raffle tickets to win one of the amazing hampers we are making up, are already on sale outside school at drop-off and pick-up and will be available to buy at the Fair before the draw. Tickets are £1 each. If you would like to buy the book of raffle tickets that was sent home with your child last week, please make sure your contact details are clearly written on the counterfoil of each ticket and return them with payment to the PSA post box in school reception by 9.00 am on Friday 8th December. We’d really appreciate the return of any unsold ticket books by then too so that they can be sold at the Fair. A big thank you to T.B. Davis, Domestic Gas & Heating Services, a local Fern Hill family business that is sponsoring our Christmas Fair raffle this year.
Don’t forget that high quality, freshly cut Christmas trees will be on sale outside school every Saturday and Sunday in the run up to Christmas, starting this Saturday 2nd December. A percentage of profits from this sale go to school funds.
We’d really appreciate donations of Christmas themed cakes, cupcakes and biscuits for the Café at the Fair next week - please leave these at school reception on the morning of the 8th or drop them off at the Café in the Small Hall in the afternoon.
Thank you very much for your support!
