Parents Meetings
Week commencing 15th January we will be holding year group meetings for parents. They will cover the main topics for this term, as well as reminding parents of our expectations of the children. We look forward to seeing many of you there. The presentations will be available on the website if you are unable to attend on the day. Please refer to the dates above for your year group.
Sikh Celebrations
Have fun this weekend if you're celebrating the birthdate of the tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh today.
Happy New Year
Welcome back to the new spring term.
I hope you have all enjoyed a very happy and healthy break. The children have been excited to share news about their holidays and are eager to take on the challenges that a new term brings.
We all look forward to continuing a positive partnership with you all to encourage your children to achieve their full potential.

Absences & Sickness
May we remind you that it is vital that you contact the school office before 9am if your child is going to be absent from school. This applies to each day that your child is going to be absent from school unless you have informed the school office in writing. Thank you.
All School Clubs start back next week!
This is your last chance to apply for a place in one of our school clubs (excluding Guitar, Tuesday Karate and Y5/6 Football which are full). Please send your application form and payment in to school by Monday 15th January to ensure you secure the place you want. Full details are on the school website and application forms are available outside the office.

Arts Week
Week beginning 22nd January we will be enjoying our annual Arts week. This year we are celebrating diversity at Fern Hill. Each year group has been given a continent and will choose a country within that continent to learn about during the week. There will be a focus on art and various art skills. We look forward to seeing the fantastic artwork that will be produced throughout the school.
Our open evenings to view the wonderful artwork on display will be on 7th & 8th February 3.45-5pm.
Year 5 School Journey
A letter has been sent home requesting the 3rd and final payment for this trip which needs to be made by Friday 9th February please.
The letter is attached below for your reference.
Cold Weather Plan
A reminder of what to do if we experience extreme weather on a school day:
- You will receive a ParentMail message from school of school closure
- Check the school website. The homepage will display a banner of urgent news
- Tune in to Radio Jackie - they broadcast any local school closures
Uniform Reminders
Can we please remind you that jewellery is not permitted in school. This includes all types of earrings. Children will be asked to remove jewellery if it is worn to school.
We have also noticed that some of our children are wearing nail varnish, this is not part of school uniform and we request that it is removed before coming to school.
Thank you.
