Snow Week
Thank you for ensuring your children made it to school this week during some tough weather conditions. It has shown that we are all very resilient. Please view our severe weather proceedure in the event of future servere weather forcasts.
The children were delighted to play outside in the fresh snow on Wednesday. Here are some of our Daisy children having a lovely time!
Science Day
What an action-packed Science Day the Fern Hill pupils and teachers had on Wednesday 28th February. The children thoroughly enjoyed visits from The Royal Institute of Science, who gave an explosive show all about electricity! Zeiss Group visited Key Stage One and let the children use their £2000 microscopes to get a better look at plants and insects as part of their science topic. Lastly, The Education Group visited Reception and gave a workshop called 'Silly Science' to each class, where the children were introduced to a variety of different science topics. It was a successful Science Day and everyone enjoyed it.

Sports Report
Another busy couple of weeks for Fern Hill sports.
Last week, 7 girls from years 5 and 6 took part in a netball tournament. they came up against some tough opposition to go through to the second round, but sadly missed out on a place in the final. Well done, girls, for playing so well.
Maya, Loveday, Nina, Tehya, Lottie, Laila, Lara
On a very cold and snowy Tuesday this week, Year 4 girl footballers were in action, taking part in a festival at Chessington Community College. The purpose of the event was to have fun playing football, and the 8 girls enthusiastically threw themselves into the spirit of the day, securing a number of wins - and some impressive goals along the way. Great sportsmanship girls - you represented the school superbly.
Belle, Tilly, Zahra, Laura, Georgie, Eloisa, Valentina, Kaila
Next week sees the hockey players taking to the sports field in addition to some budding Cross-Country runners braving the elements at the weekend. Watch out for more on these events in the coming newsletters.

ParentPay - Update
Thank you to the 239 parents (34%) who have so far activated their ParentPay accounts! Special thanks to parents of Ash and Willow classes – you are joint leaders with 50% of accounts activated each!
Targeted reminder letters will be going out in book bags this week to those who have not yet logged on to ParentPay. Please don't forget to activate your account before Monday 12th March in order to receive email communications from the school, and to book and pay for lunches and clubs for the Summer term.
For your information the activation code you have been sent is unique and can only be used by one parent/carer. If other adults linked to a pupil (or pupils) wish to receive email communications and/or be able to access ParentPay to make online payments, then they will need to be set up separately by the school.
Please email office@fernhill.rbksch.org with the full name and email address of any additional contacts you wish to set up on ParentPay
Bounce for Books
Thank you to our PSA for running such an organised sponsored bounce today. All classes took turns to bounce their socks off against the clock on one of the two bouncy castles in the school hall. Well done to everyone who bounced and sponsored, and thank you to all parent volunteers for counting bounces and helping out today.
Please don’t forget to return your sponsorship forms plus any donations by Monday 12th March to the PSA post box in school reception. All money raised will be used to buy new books for the school and all donations are very gratefully received. Thank you so much for your support.
