It’s World Book Day on Thursday 5th March and we’ll be celebrating with special assemblies, book character hunts and mystery readers! Children and staff are invited to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character. If you’re looking for dressing up ideas, the World Book Day website is a fantastic resource. Please look out for your child’s £1 National Book Token which we’ll be sending home with them next week. You can use this token to get a World Book Day Book for free or £1 off a book or audiobook at your local bookseller.
Parent Consultation bookings go live on Sunday....
Parent consultations for all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 will be held on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th March. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child's class teacher to discuss your child’s progress.

Please note that the booking system will open at 12.00 pm on Sunday 1st March and close at 12.00 pm on Thursday 12th March.

There will be no charge for this extended session. The early half session will run from 2.00 - 4.30 pm.
Reception experience the Learning Street
Reception had a very special visit this week when an Early Aspirations Learning Street arrived to bring their ‘People Who Help Us’ topic to life. The children had the opportunity to play Dr. Doolittle in the veterinary surgery, investigate the latest crime scene as police officers, role-play as construction workers and dig for dinosaur bones as palaeontologists!

PSA News & Events
Bounce For Books – Friday 6th March
We are very excited that our Bounce for Books event is fast approaching. Thank you so much to all the parents who have volunteered to help on the day – we couldn’t manage without your support. We do still need more volunteers to help count the children’s bounces, particularly in the 10.15 to 11.30am slot. If you can help out for this slot, or at another time during the day, please either let your class rep know or email bounceforbooksvictoriawilson@gmail.com with your name, email, mobile number.
Also please don’t forget to hand in your completed forms plus sponsorship money to your class teacher by Friday 13th March. All money raised goes directly to buy more books for the children at school. Thank you so much for your support. Your help and enthusiasm make this event the great success it always is!
Second-hand costume and dressing-up clothes sale – Wednesday 26th February
Thanks to everyone who donated items for our second-hand costume and dressing-up sale on Wednesday. We had a wonderful selection of items and we hope parents who came along to the sale were able to get some great bargains. We’re delighted to say that this sale raised £242.36 for our school.
Mothers’ Day Breakfast – Friday 20th March
To celebrate Mothers’ Day, we are holding a Mothers’ Day Breakfast at school on Friday 20th March from 8.00 to 8.45am. This is a lovely opportunity for all mums (plus grandmothers or aunts) to come along and share breakfast with their children. This is a free event, but tickets must be reserved for both children and adults to allow us to cater for the correct numbers. Due to space restrictions, only children currently attending Fern Hill (Daisy class to Year 6) can attend. Please put the date in your diary and a link to our online booking page will be in next week’s newsletter. We will need plenty of lovely volunteers to help out on the morning and we'd particularly like volunteer dads so the mums can enjoy their breakfast! If you can help, please email fernhillpsa@gmail.com
Please come along to our next PSA meeting – Thursday 12th March
All parents are very welcome to come along to our next PSA meeting in the Small Hall on Thurs 12th March from 7.30pm onwards. This is a great forum to share ideas and chat about future events, so please come along and join us.
New date for our Summer Fair
Please make a note in your diaries that our PSA Summer Fair will now take place on Saturday 13th June.
Thank you for your support,
Fern Hill PSA
