School Photography Product Guide
Today, your child will have come home with a Bag2School collection bag. Please fill this with quality, reusable clothing (no school uniform please!) and return it to the cage crates by the main entrance of school on Monday 22nd or Tuesday 23rd November. For a full list of items that can (and can't) be donated, click here. If you need an extra bag, please check with the school office for spares but you can also just use a tie handle bin bag too. The more items we donate, the more money we will raise for school funds!
This half-term's Home Learning Grids are posted on your Home Learning Google Classroom. Don't forget to log in every week for an update from your teacher.
There are children at school with severe nut allergies; it is very important that they do not come into contact with any nuts or traces of nut. Please do NOT include any nuts or products containing nuts in your child’s packed lunch or as a snack. This includes Nutella and other chocolate spreads.
Friendship Week, Monday 15th - Friday 19th November
Next week in school we are celebrating Friendship Week. The children will take part in a number of different activities all designed to celebrate positive relationships and reinforce the values of a kind and compassionate school community.
There are two special events that we need your help with!
Odd Socks Day
On Monday 15th, children and staff are invited to wear their funkiest, oddest socks to show their uniqueness and their support for Odd Socks Day, a national initiative from the Anti-Bullying Alliance which marks the start of their annual Anti-Bullying Week.
Children in Need
On Friday 19th, we are holding our annual fundraising mufti day in support of the BBC Children in Need Appeal. The children don’t need to wear school uniform in return for a donation to Children in Need via our dedicated Children in Need Just Giving page.
Your donations will go directly to Children in Need – please give whatever you can. Pudsey pin badges (£1) and keyrings (£2) will also be on sale outside school at drop off and pick up from the middle of next week. Thank you so much for your support!
As part of Friendship Week, we have been planning a parent workshop to share Fern Hill’s approach to building positive relationships and how we support the children to do this. This will now be a pre-recorded virtual event and available for all families to view. We’ll share the link to view the recording next Friday.
Remembrance & The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
On Thursday, the children marked Armistice Day with a two-minute whole school silence at 11:00 am. In assemblies, they reflected on why we commemorate Remembrance Day and why we wear red poppies. Thank you to our Year 6 children who sold poppies during the week - and thank you to all the families who donated to the British Royal Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Well done Aviana!
We would like to say a huge well done to Aviana Durai in Sunflower class who has raised £1,200 and donated 12 inches of her beautiful hair to the Little Princess Trust. What a brave and inspiring thing to do Aviana! Click here to find out more about the Little Princess Trust, who provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions.
We’re really looking forward to our first parent assembly of the year, for Oak class on Thursday 18th November. Assemblies will be held in the Large Hall and run from 9:00 – 9:30 am.
You can find the date for your child’s class assembly on the website here.
To help keep us all safe, we ask that only one parent from each family attends and that everyone wears a face covering unless exempt. With limited capacity, please make alternative childcare arrangements for younger siblings if at all possible. We’ll be recording the assemblies to upload to the Google Classroom, for families to watch together at home.

PSA News & Events
~ Employee matched funding ~
Did you know that there are hundreds of organisations in the UK who will boost fundraising when their employees volunteer for charities just like our PSA?
We’d be so grateful if you could take the time to check if your employer offers this (it is sometimes stated on their website.) These schemes often double what we can raise, matching £1 for £1 and boosting our fundraising efforts by hundreds of pounds especially with larger events like our upcoming Christmas Fair, planned for Saturday 11th December.
If your employer offers matched funding, please get in touch to see if we can work together to unlock that extra fundraising potential. Thank you!
