FernFest 2022
Well done to all the children in Nursery and Years 3 - 6 who took part in their Sports Day today. The weather was kind to us this time! Thank you to the families who could join us too - it was lovely to see so many of you there.
Has your child lost a pair of glasses?
We have a whole basket of them in the school office and would love to return them to their owners! Please do come and have a look.
Welcome back to the last half-term of this school year! We are really looking forward to two of the PSA’s key events: Dads’ Breakfast on 17th June and the Summer Fair on 25th June, as well as the last of our parent assemblies. Our Year 5 children will have their mini-residential at Thames Young Mariners and we are so pleased that Year 6 will experience their School Journey once again. Towards the end of term, we’ll be focusing on transition with end of year reports coming home and class changeover day when the children will spend an afternoon in their new classroom, with their new teachers for September. We will be welcoming the new families joining us in September and also saying goodbye to our lovely Year 6 children. We can’t wait to see their production of Macbeth and celebrate their time with us at the Leavers’ Assembly and Party!
The Queen's Platinum Jubilee
We had a fantastic time celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee before the half-term break and this week the children have brought home a keepsake book to mark the event. Designed as an official once-in-a-lifetime commemoration of the Platinum Jubilee and written in collaboration with royal experts and historians, the book tells the story of a young girl, Isabella, visiting her Great Granny Joyce who tells her about the Queen and this year’s Jubilee.
The book includes recent and historical events across the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, inspirational people, landmark innovations and inventions, and a selection of the best art, design, and culture.
The book will be released for sale next week, if you would like to buy another copy.
School Uniform
Our school uniform supplier, PMG Schoolwear, will be running an appointment system over the summer months again this year for families who would like dedicated time and a member of staff to assist them with fitting and purchasing uniform. Appointments are available to book now and will run from 1st July. To book, please click here. The cut-off date for ordering uniform for the start of the new school year is 12th August. Please see the school website here for further information on school uniform requirements at Fern Hill.

PSA News & Events
PSA Dads' Breakfast
This will be held on Friday 17th June from 7:45 to 8:45 am in the Large Hall. This event is a great opportunity for Fern Hill pupils to come to school with their Dads, Grandads, Uncles etc. to enjoy a delicious breakfast (all funded by the PSA) and meet up with other parents and carers.
Due to space restrictions, only children currently attending Fern Hill (Nursery through to Year 6) can attend. No babes in arms or buggies please. Each attendee should hold a ticket, so for example if one adult is bringing two children to the breakfast, three tickets need to be booked.
Tickets are available to book until Sunday 12th June - click here. Don't leave it too late - there is a limit on capacity and tickets usually go fast!
Reminder - FernFest Brochure and Raffle!
If you have a business and would like to purchase advertising space in the FernFest brochure, please email fernhillpsa@gmail.com and we can talk you through the different options. Remember that the calendar will be on fridges across North Kingston, so you could get a year’s worth of advertising in over 400 local homes!
If you have any business contacts who would be happy to donate a prize to our raffle it would be very much appreciated. In return, they will receive free advertising to the school community as part of the raffle promotion. Please email Caroline at: fernhillpsa@gmail.com.
FernFest International Food Stall - donations needed!
This year sees the return of the ever popular International Food Stall at our summer fair. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our school’s diversity by enjoying some delicious food from around the world, and we would be very grateful for donations from our families. Dishes can be whole or portioned, savoury or sweet but must be vegetarian and ready to serve as we cannot keep items warm. No nuts please!!
If you are able to provide a dish, please email fernhillpsa@gmail.com so we have an idea of the quantity of donations - the more, the merrier!
A Right Royal Crown and Cake Competition!
Don’t forget our competition to design a crown to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, to be judged at FernFest. The competition is open to all our children, and they can use any material they wish to create their crown or tiara - let their imaginations run wild! Entries must be brought along to FernFest to be judged.
Or, if your child's skills lie more in a culinary direction, why not enter our cake competition, also to be judged at the fair! Further details to follow.
FernFest BBQ - volunteers needed!
We are still looking for more willing volunteers to wield the tongs at our summer fair barbecue! If you can help please email fernhillpsa@gmail.com.
