Consent for Local Visits
Please click here to complete the consent form to give permission for your child to take part in local visits out of school this academic year. Local visits are those within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames or where the children will travel by foot to their destination, walking for a maximum duration of 45 minutes. If you have more than one child at Fern Hill, you should complete a separate consent form for each child. For further information, please see the letter from Mr Scott attached below.
Free Musical Workshop
Masquerade Theatre Arts are running a free, open workshop for children aged 7 years and over at Fern Hill on Thursday 13th October from 5:45 - 7:45 pm. Please see the flyer attached below for further information. To book, please email Masquerade directly.
Parents' Evening
There are two Parents' Evenings this school year, in October and next March.
Our autumn term Parents' Evening will be held on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th October and you can book an appointment with your class teacher through our Parents’ Evening System. The booking window will close at 6:00 pm on Thursday 6th October.
Video and in-person appointments will be held on different days during the following times:
Wednesday 12th October, 4:00 – 7:00 pm — appointments via video call
Thursday 13th October, 2:00 – 6:00 pm — in-person appointments at school
On Thursday 13th October school will close at 1:30 pm for children in Reception through to Year 6. Nursery will run as normal until 3:25 pm.
If you have a SEND review scheduled with the Inclusion Team, or are in the process of scheduling it, you do NOT need to book a Parents’ Evening appointment as well. Your child’s class teacher will attend their SEND review.

Lunchtime and after school clubs
On Thursday 13th October, lunchtime and after school clubs will run as usual. After school clubs will run at the earlier time of 1:30 – 2:30 pm. Your child will be dismissed from the usual collection point at 2:30 pm.
Tree Tops
On Thursday 13th October, Tree Tops will run from 1:30 pm until its usual finish of 6:00 pm for existing bookings. Please note that Tree Tops is fully booked for Thursday 13th October and any new bookings made through ParentPay will be automatically cancelled.
PSA Macmillan Coffee Morning
Thank you to everyone who came to the PSA's Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support - a fantastic charity that does so much to help those living with cancer. Thank you too to all those who baked and bought cakes.
If you couldn't make it to the Coffee Morning or after school cake sale, and would like to make a donation you can do so via the PSA's dedicated Macmillan page here. We'll find out how much we've raised next week.
Parent Council
Our Parent Council held their first meeting of the academic year today in school. Welcome to Natalie Jefferies and Clare Howard who have taken on the role of Chair and Secretary respectively – thank you!
The Parent Council was launched in 2016 as a forum for parents and carers to share their views directly with the school. Every year group has at least one Parent Council representative, drawn from the parent body and they meet with Mrs Stephenson, Deputy Headteacher, in school once every half-term, usually on a Friday at 9:00 am.
We are in the processes of updating the Parent Council page on the school website but in the meantime, if you would like to speak to Natalie or Clare, please email them at: parentcouncil@fernhill.rbksch.org or catch them at the school gates!
The following classes are still looking for a Parent Council representative for this year: Nursery, Bluebell, Poppy, Foxglove, Larch, Sycamore and Elder. If you are interested in finding out more about the role, please do get in touch.

PSA News & Events
If you go down to the woods today... Teddy Bears' Picnic Fun!
Our Reception children had a brilliant time at the PSA Teddy Bears’ Picnic on Monday! They had fun making their own teddy bear ears and other crafts, and eating teddy bear pancakes and other yummy snacks. It was a lovely way for new children and parents to get to know each other. A big thank you to everyone who came along, and to our wonderful team of volunteers who put this event together.
Pre-loved uniform sale
Thank you to everyone who came along to our pre-loved uniform sale last Friday, and helped us raise just over £251 - a terrific result! Thank you also to our brilliant team of volunteers.
Quiz Night - Tuesday 18th October
Gather your friends and brush up on your general knowledge for our Quiz Night, to be held at The Boaters Inn on Thursday 18th October. Further information and ticket link to be released next week.
