Parent Engagement
This term, the Parent Council topic is parent engagement and understanding how our parent and carer community engage with the School and what the School can do to make it easier for you to get involved. The survey will be open until 12:00 pm on Friday 4th November and you can access it here. Thank you - we look forward to receiving your feedback.
Thank you to all the families who brought in Harvest donations today. The Kingston Foodbank collected them this afternoon and every item was very gratefully received.
School lunches for next half-term will be available to order via ParentPay from Monday 17th October. Please note that the deadline to order for the first week back after the break will be midnight on Sunday 23rd October.
Sadly, we say goodbye to three wonderful members of staff at the end of this half-term: Mrs Felton, Mrs Omer and Mrs Pritchard. They will be hugely missed and we wish them the very best of luck as they move on to new ventures.
Next week is a short week - school will close on Wednesday 19th October - so this will be the last school newsletter of this half-term. Please don't forget that next Thursday 20th and Friday 21st October are INSET days. We hope you have a wonderful break (when it arrives!) and look forward to seeing the children back on Monday 31st October at the usual time.
Sports Round Up!
Sports is back with a bang this year, and we have already been participating in a number of interschool events. Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been on the basketball court and hockey pitch, learning and developing skills that will help support teamwork, attacking and defensive play and ball/space awareness. Lots of smiles and laughter all round!
Wednesday was our first competitive event this year, when 27 children from Years 5 and 6 competed in the Kingston School Sports Cross-country. 22 schools competed (469 children in total!) with teams of girls and boys running the 1.8km course. It's always a tightly contested event, and this year proved no different.
A huge well done to everyone who took part and tried their best, and an even bigger well done to the Year 6 girls team who came away with 3rd place in the borough.
Well done to all the children who took part, or trialled for a team. It was great to see so many people wanting to get involved in school sport. There will be more sports after the half-term break, as well as some more in-school lunchtime events for the children to enjoy. Thank you to all the parents and staff supporting the out of school fixtures – we really appreciate your help!
Maybe I’ll see some of you at Junior ParkRun at Latchmere Rec on Sunday...
- Mrs Lawn, PE Lead
School Photographs
Next week, your child will be bringing home their school photograph proof sheets with details of how to order the images. Don’t forget to check their bag! The deadline for orders will be Sunday 30th October for free delivery back to school by Friday 2nd December. Further information on ordering will be sent to you via ParentPay next week.
We’re looking forward to the Parent Class Assemblies that begin after the half-term break with Year 6. You can find the date for your child’s assembly on the website here.

PSA News & Events
Fern Hill PSA Fireworks Night – Wednesday 2nd November
The fabulous Fern Hill PSA fireworks display will be back on Wednesday 2nd November from 5:45 to 7:30 pm in the juniors' playground. As well as a stunning professional fireworks display, there will be stalls selling mulled wine, beer, hot dogs, popcorn, toffee apples, cake sales, Indian snacks and other refreshments.
Tickets go on sale on Monday 17th October at 8:00 pm. Capacity is limited for this extremely popular event so please remember to get your tickets in good time by clicking here.
Tickets are priced at £6 for everyone attending. Children under the age of 3 are free to attend and do not require a ticket. Children under 12 with tickets will only be admitted when accompanied by an adult ticket holder.
Please note there is a maximum allocation of six tickets per online order and a maximum of six tickets per family. This event is aimed at children who attend Fern Hill, their siblings, parents and primary carers only.
Doors will open at 5:45 pm with last entry being 6:30 pm and the firework display beginning at 6.45 pm. The event will conclude at 7:30 pm.
Please remember to bring your own reusable cup if requiring a hot drink. As for alcoholic beverages, once again we are lucky to have The Boaters Inn hosting our bar. They will be serving beer and mulled wine in their own fully recyclable cups. No alcohol, sparklers or other fireworks may be brought onto site and tickets are not refundable.
Year 5 Cake Sale - Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who came along and bought cakes from the cake sale run by Year 5 parents and carers last Friday. They raised an impressive £416.59 for their classes, well done everyone!
