Reminders
Flu Immunisations
Flu vaccinations will be offered to all children during the school day on Tuesday 29th November as a painless nasal spray. You must provide your consent by Thursday 24th November by completing the form linked in the letter below.
Booking for Tree Tops
Please book for Tree Tops as far in advance as possible - our sessions are filling up very quickly. Thursdays are always particularly busy and are now full for the rest of this term.
Safety on the school site
Please do not use the car park as a pedestrian walk through. There have been a few incidents recently where children have scootered or biked ahead of their accompanying adult and not been visible to cars pulling out of parking spaces. Families should only use the public footpaths and there should be no scootering or cycling on the school site.

Chess Winners!
Congratulations to our Chess Club team who won their competition against Parkside School last week. All the children played brilliantly! Thank you to the Captains, Alden and Hayden and well done to Anina who was presented with a medal for the best game played in the competition.
Curriculum Evening
Thank you to all the parents who came to our Curriculum Evening yesterday. The presentations will be made available to all families shortly.
On Monday 14th November, children and staff are invited to wear their funkiest, oddest socks to celebrate their individuality and show their support for Odd Socks Day, a national initiative from the Anti-Bullying Alliance which marks the start of their annual Anti-Bullying Week. This is not a mufti day so children should wear their school uniform – but with some fantastic, odd socks!
Anti-Bullying Week 2022 is happening this Monday 14th – Friday 18th November. It’s an annual UK event, co-ordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and aims to raise awareness of bullying of children and young people, in schools and elsewhere, and to highlight ways of preventing and responding to it. This year’s theme is ‘Reach Out’ and we’ll be marking the start of it in school by taking part in Odd Socks Day. During the week in assemblies and PSHE lessons, the children will be exploring issues related to bullying and how we can all work together to stop it.
If you would like to make a £1 donation - or any donation you think appropriate - to the Anti-Bullying Alliance to help them carry on their important work and continue coordinating Anti-Bullying Week every year, you can do so here.
Photographs for the new school website
On Monday 14th November, we will be taking photographs during the school day for our new website. Selected images may also be published on the new Kingston Educational Trust’s website and in promotional marketing materials including the school prospectus. Some images will include the children, working in the classrooms and playing outside.
If you would prefer your child not to be photographed, please tell us via this linked form. If you are happy for your child to be photographed and do not complete the form, we will still share any images that include your child with you and seek your permission to use them before publication. Thank you.
Fundraising for the BBC Children in Need Appeal
On Friday 18th November, we will be supporting the BBC Children in Need Appeal Day with an amazing day of fun, excitement, and fundraising - The Great SPOTacular! It's a Mufti day so the children do not need to wear school uniform but we do hope to see lots of spotty clothing! We'll be selling a limited number of Pudsey pin badges (£1) and keyrings (£2) in the run-up to the day and the PSA will be running a special cake sale on the day. Look out for more information coming home soon.
Fulham Football Club - Girls Only Kingston Skills Club
On Saturday 26th November, Fulham Football Club will be opening up their Girls Only Skills Club sessions to any interested female participant as a one-off free of charge trial. The sessions are held at the YMCA Hawker Centre and are running over the morning by year groups. All participants will need to bring shin pads, a water bottle and appropriate clothing for the weather. Any wanting to play in goal will also need to wear goal keeping gloves. For further information and to book, click here.

PSA News & Events
PSA Meeting - Thursday 24th November at 7:30pm
Our next PSA meeting will be held in school on Thursday 24th November at 7:30 pm. We will be sharing feedback from our Fireworks Night and looking ahead to festive fun and events in the spring term. Come along and share your views!
Christmas Tree Sale - Curchods Sponsorship Boards
In the run up to Christmas, Christmas trees will be on sale outside school over certain weekends in December. To support our festive fundraising, local estate agents Curchods will be advertising the sales on their branded boards and will donate £10 to Fern Hill for every board that goes up outside parents’ and carers’ houses or flats. The more boards that go up, the more money we will raise! Please note these are NOT “for sale” signs – they just advertise our tree sales. Please click here to sign up to host a board outside your home over the sale period. Thank you!
Fireworks Night - Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who attended the PSA fireworks display on Wednesday night! It was such a fun event and wonderful to see the excitement on the childrens' faces. Huge thanks to our organising team and all the volunteers, both parents and staff, who helped to make this event such a success, especially given the need to reschedule the event at short notice.
Children In Need Cake Sale - Donations needed!
The PSA will be holding a cake sale next Friday 18th November after school in aid of the BBC Children in Need Appeal. If you are able to support this event by donating cakes to the sale (homemade or shop bought) we would be very grateful. Please bring your donations in on the morning of Friday 18th November and leave them on the trolley by the school office. Please make sure your donations do not contain any nuts (including almonds - no bakewell tarts please as we cannot sell them!). If you are available to help at the cake sale itself (2:45 - 3:45 pm) please let us know on the PSA WhatsApp or email fernhillpsa@gmail.com. Many thanks!
