Reminders
Class photographs
Next week, you will receive a link and password to view and order your child's class photograph. Please note that the password will be unique to your class and must not be shared with anyone outside your class for data protection reasons. Delivery of your order will be directly to school, before the end of term.
Early morning clubs
If your child attends a club before school, e.g. a phonics or Nessy group, please do not arrive any earlier than five minutes before the start of the lesson. If your child travels to school unaccompanied, please remind them that they should wait in the school reception area to be let in.
Your year group weekly news is published every Friday afternoon on your child's Home Learning Google Classroom.
This week's Times Tables Rock Stars class winners are BEECH, CHESTNUT, LIME and ELDER. Well done!
On Monday, pupils can come to school in their own clothes (but no football strips please!). In return, we would be very grateful to parents for donations to the adults' and/or children’s tombola stalls at the Summer Fair. Please bring your donations of bottles (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), beauty products, chocolate, sweets and anything else we can include on the tombola (that someone would love to win!) to school on Monday 12th June and drop them off at the collection point by the school office. Thank you.
Well done to all the children taking part in their Sports Day today. There was some great sportsmanship and a sense of fun across the field. Thank you to the families who could join us too - it was lovely to see so many of you there!
Usborne Book Fair
To encourage a lifelong love of reading, we will be holding a Book Fair later this month with our local Usborne Partner, Michelle Dalby. All the money raised from the Fair will be used to buy new books for our school - for every £10 that you spend, we will receive £6 to buy new books! We would particularly like to boost our non-fiction section in the library.
The Book Fair will be held after school on Thursday 29th June and you will be able to browse and buy books to take away on the day, and pay by cash or card.
We are also offering pre-orders of books from Michelle’s website using this linked order form. Pre-ordered books will be available for you to collect on Thursday 29th June from the Fair or can be sent home with your child. If you would like to pre-order any books, please complete the order form (there are copies available from the school office if you don’t have a printer at home) and return it to school with your payment or proof of online payment by 3:00 pm on Friday 16th June. If you are paying by cash, please note that change can not be given.
Our annual Parent and Carer Survey is now live and will be available until Wednesday 21st June. This year, we are using a new format of survey which is being administered across the Kingston Educational Trust. Responses are anonymised and comments confidential and the results of the survey will be shared during the autumn term.
Book of the Week
'Pizza Pete and the Perilous Potions' by Carrie Sellon
Pete's favourite word is 'home' and when something awful happens he decides he's just going to stay at home forever in the flat that he shares with his Dad above their pizza takeaway shop. But they've been losing customers to the pizza chain on the high street and Pete's Dad breaks the news that they are about to be evicted if they can't raise £10,000 in four days.
But then Pete finds a suitcase of mysterious potions in the attic, and he comes up with a brilliant plan to save their home. Together with his best friend Anna, Pete creates a menu of magical pizzas to give each customer an experience they will never forget. At first their scheme is a roaring success, until the potions start going wrong.
School refusal and anxiety is at an all-time high after the pandemic, but Pete is one of the few children's book characters I've come across who is struggling with this, and the issue is handled with warmth and sensitivity.
'Pizza Pete and the Perilous Potions' is a hilarious, madcap pizza adventure with a poignant message about homes and families at its heart - perfect for lower KS2.
