This week's Times Tables Rock Stars class winners are ROWAN, YEW, ASH and ELDER. Well done!
Our annual Parent and Carer Survey will be available until Wednesday 21st June. This year, we are using a new format of survey which is being administered across the Kingston Educational Trust. Responses are anonymised and the results of the survey will be shared during the autumn term.
Fern Fest 2023 - just one day to go!
We hope to see you all tomorrow, Saturday 17th June from 12:00 - 3:00 pm for Fern Fest 2023, the annual PSA Summer Fair. A few reminders and tips for the day...
Fern Fest brochure - children will have brought home a Summer Fair brochure this week that includes a map of where all the stalls and activities will be around the school site. Remember to bring this along with you, so you can complete the Postcard Quest and win a prize!
Please bring cash! Only a few stalls will be able to accept card payments.
Photography competition - come along to the Gallery to see if your photograph has been selected for display and find out which haven been chosen as winners by the judges. Everyone can vote for their favourite to win the People Choice Award and these winners will be announced at 2:30 pm in the Gallery.
Raffle - there is still time to buy your raffle tickets; just click here. The draw will be made at 2:00 pm at the Fair.
Usborne Book Fair
To encourage a lifelong love of reading, we will be holding a Book Fair on Thursday 29th June with our local Usborne Partner, Michelle Dalby. All the money raised from the Fair will be used to buy new books for our school - for every £10 that you spend, we will receive £6 to buy new books! We would particularly like to boost our non-fiction section in the library. You will be able to browse and buy books to take away on the day, and pay by cash or card.
Book of the Week
'Quiet Storm' by Kimberly Whittam
When Storm starts Year 7 at Daisy Mill Academy, all her teachers expect her to be as confident and proactive as her older brother, Isaiah – the Head Boy. But Storm isn’t like Isaiah. Storm is quiet – she hates having to speak aloud in class in front of the other children and will do anything to avoid being the centre of attention.
When Storm is selected for the school athletics team, she’s excited to have finally found something she is good at but she’s not sure she will have the courage to participate unless her best friend, Zarrish, goes with her. But Zarrish is distracted by a new girl at school, Melissa, who is determined to belittle Storm at every opportunity. Storm has to find her voice and learn to stand up for herself.
‘Quiet Storm’ is a wonderfully warm, relatable and engaging story that is bound to be a comfort and inspiration to other 'quiet' children.
