CHILDREN RETURN TO SCHOOL
Reminders
Absence from school
If your child is ill or absent from school for any other reason, please let the school office know by 8:30 am EACH day that they are not in school. You can email the office at: office@fernhill.rbksch.org or telephone them on 020 247 0300. If you telephone and are put through to the answer machine, please leave a message.
It's getting colder...and wetter!
Your child should bring a coat or waterproof jacket to school every day. We would like the children to spend as much time as possible outdoors and with the weather getting colder and wetter, they will need warm outerwear in school.
Water bottles
Please remember that the water fountains in the playgrounds are not in use. It is essential that your child brings a named and refillable water bottle to school every day. The children should always take their water bottles home at the end of the day for cleaning.
Flu immunisations
Thank you for returning your child’s Flu Immunisation Consent Form. These have now been collected by the school nursing team who will be back in school on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th November to administer the nasal spray to those children with parental permission.
Pupil Photographs
Our school photographer, Mrs Bahara, will be in school on Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th October to take photographs of the children. This year we will be doing individual photographs only and not taking any of children together with their sibling(s). The children should come into school wearing the correct school uniform, including a school jumper or cardigan and, if they are in Years 3-6, a school tie.
We are hoping to run a Bikeability Level 1 & 2 course on the school site over the half term break. This will be for Year 6 children only initially with the possibility of opening it up to Year 5 if there are places available. The course has been adapted following guidance from The Bikeability Trust and is in line with government guidance regarding COVID-19. If we can secure the sessions, we will send out further information next week.
Cauliflower Cards are back!
Some of you with children in the older year groups may remember taking part in this fund-raising project a few years ago.
The PSA work with a company called Cauliflower Cards to offer the children the opportunity of designing their own Christmas cards that are then professionally printed and delivered back to school. Every order you place raises valuable funds for the PSA too.
Cauliflower cards don’t just offer cards; your child’s design can be made into gift labels, mugs and even wrapping paper! Their design doesn’t need to be festive – they may like to make thank you cards or cards for other occasions.
The children will have brought home a Cauliflower Cards project pack that includes an order form and a sheet of A4 paper on which they create their design. This year we are going cashless! Orders should be placed online, following the instructions on the order form. The sheet of paper with their design should be GLUED to the order form and returned to your child’s class teacher.
The deadline for placing an order online AND returning artwork to your class teacher is next Friday 2nd October.
Have a look at the Cauliflower Card's Christmas gallery for some great design ideas using lots of different materials.
