Reminders
Medication in School
If you child needs medication in school, e.g. an Epi-pen or inhaler, please ensure that you supply the school office with what they need. If you need to drop medication off at school, just tell a member of staff outside school reception at drop off or collection time and Mrs Disalvo will come out to you to collect it.
Library Books
We are missing lots of library books! Many were taken home by the children before lockdown in March and we appreciate that the children did not have an opportunity to bring them back before the end of the summer term. Please can you have a good look at home for any that should be returned? Your child can hand them to their class teacher who will make sure they are passed on to our librarian, Mrs Eakin.
Home Learning Grids
Home Learning Grids for Years 1 to 6 are available on the school website, under your child's year group page.
Our school photographer, Mrs Bahara, will be in school next week from Tuesday to Thursday taking photographs of the children. The children should come to school looking smart and wearing the correct school uniform, including a school jumper or cardigan and, if they are in Years 3-6, a school tie.
Mrs Bahara would like to inform you that the school photographs taken last year in October 2019 are still available to order but only until 31st October. They will be deleted after this date. If you would like to purchase any of the images, please contact Mrs Bahara directly by email at:

Parent Consultations for all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 will be held from Monday 12th to Thursday 15th October. The consultations will be by telephone and will be an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress and how they are settling into the new school year with their teacher.
Consultations will last for eight minutes and can be booked online now at: https://fernhillprimary.parentseveningsystem.co.uk
Please note that the booking system will close at 5:00 pm on Wednesday 7th October.
Although we are using our usual booking system, the process for making a booking has been modified to make it suitable for telephone appointments. Please follow the step by step instructions attached below.
Appointments are available as follows:
Monday 12th October 4:00 – 6:00 pm (Nursery only appointments are available from 1:00 pm)
Tuesday 13th October 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Wed 14th October 4:00 – 7:00 pm
Thursday 15th October 2:30 – 6:00 pm
Please be aware that due to different working commitments, a teacher may not be available on all four days. Once you have logged into the booking system and selected your class teacher, you will be able to view their appointment availability as normal.
If you have a SEN Review already scheduled with the Inclusion Team, you do not need to book a separate Parent Consultation. Your child’s class teacher will attend your SEN Review.
Dismissal Arrangements for Thursday 15th October
School closes early on Thursday 15th October. To manage footfall on the school site, collection times will be staggered as follows:
1:55 pm – Year 6 and Year 4
Children in Year 6 with parental permission to walk home alone, will be dismissed at 1.55 pm.
2:00 pm – Year 5 and Reception
2:05 pm – Year 3 and Year 2
Bracken class will be dismissed from the infants (KS1) playground via the door into the school building.
2:10 pm – Year 1 and Nursery
Children who are not collected on time will be asked to line up along The Kingston Academy fence, opposite the main school entrance, in their class bubbles, and will be supervised by a member of staff. If you are late, please go directly to the main school entrance to collect your child.
October Half Term
We are so pleased that Pleiades, Masquerade and Mother Nature Science are back with us again this coming October half term holiday and offering some great activities in school!
Pleiades are running a two day multi sport camp on our INSET days, Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd October. Fantastic workshops from Masquerade and Mother Nature Science are also available to book for the following week.
Masquerade are running two different activities: a Hocus Pocus Halloween adventure for 4 - 6 year olds and a David Walliams themed workshop for children aged 7 and over, both on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th October. Mother Nature Science are running a Halloween Science five day activity camp from Monday 26th - Friday 30th October. Find out more on the website here.

Rocks & Fossils Workshop
"This week, Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic workshop in school with palaeontologist, Dr Helen, making close observations of rocks and fossils. The activities ranged from excavating, describing and sorting them, to matching fossils to the organisms from which they came. Having the chance to explore objects from millions of years ago was simply awe-inspiring."

Second-hand Fancy Dress & School Uniform Sale - POSTPONED
Due to the poor weather forecast for tomorrow, we have decided to postpone the first of our monthly sales. It will now be held on Saturday 10th October from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm outside at 14 Tudor Drive. We would love some more volunteers to help on the day so if you can spare a couple of hours between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, please email the PSA at: fernhillpsa@gmail.com
