Reminders
PE Kit & School Shoes
Please may we remind you that PE Kit days are NOT mufti days. Children should come to school wearing school uniform PE kit as per the guidance on the school website here — a white t-shirt and black shorts/tracksuit or jogging bottoms. These items should be plain with no branding or other logos. On other days, children should be wearing appropriate school shoes, NOT trainers.

Congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 children who participated in this year’s Bikeability training. All passed with flying colours! The children worked really hard to achieve their Level 1 and Level 2 certification despite the extreme heat! Please keep an eye on ParentPay for dates of the next Bikeability 2021 courses.
Year 6 Families! Remember to order your Year 6 leavers' yearbook here! Yearbooks cost £16 each and you may order as many copies as you like. All orders MUST be placed by Friday 25th June please. The books will be delivered to school in the week beginning 12th July. The leavers' yearbook is a fantastic keepsake for the Year 6 children with 100 pages of photos and memories of their time at Fern Hill — don't miss out!
Although we haven’t been able to come together as a community for our usual Sports Day this term, the children will take part in an afternoon celebration of sport in their year group bubbles on the Astroturf at school. With restrictions still in force, we won’t be able to welcome families to watch but we will be posting lots of photos on the Google Classroom for you to enjoy with your children after their event. As with every Sports Day, this will be an inter-house competition and the children should come to school on their year group day wearing school PE kit with a t-shirt of their house colour:
Coombe — Blue
Hampton — Red
Kingston — Yellow
Richmond — Green
The year group days are as follows:
Nursery — Monday 28th June
Reception — Wednesday 7th July
Year 1 – Tuesday 6th July
Year 2 – Monday 5th July
Year 3 – Thursday 8th July
Year 4 – Thursday 1st July
Year 5 – Tuesday 29th June
Year 6 – Monday 28th June
Today our annual Parent & Carer Survey went live. This survey is for you to give us your views about Fern Hill and your child’s experience at school. The survey will be available until 6:00 pm on Friday 2nd July.
You can access the survey here.
Your feedback is extremely important and will be a key input to the School Development Plan for next year. To encourage feedback, we are offering an incentive! The year group that receives the most survey responses will enjoy their own mufti (non-uniform) day and extra diamond time before the end of term.
The survey is designed to enable you to complete a questionnaire for each of your children attending Fern Hill so if you have more than one child here, please take the opportunity to do a survey for each. More than one parent can also complete a survey for each child.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this survey.
Academy Consultation
This week, the consultation period for the proposal for Fern Hill to convert to academy status and join Kingston Educational Trust (KET) began. If you have any questions or comments on the proposal, please complete the Google form linked here before the consultation period ends at midday on Monday 19 July. Alternatively, written comments can also be posted to the school office in a sealed envelope, marked for the attention of Francesca Lee, Clerk to the Governing Body.
Two information sessions are being held, on Monday 12th July from 9:30 – 10:30 am and Tuesday 13th July from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, to discuss the proposed conversion in more detail.
These sessions will take place virtually, using Google Meet, and joining details will be published nearer the time. If you would like to join one of the meetings, please complete the Google form here.
You can find out more about the proposal to convert to academy status on the website here.
