Performance & Results
At Fern Hill, we measure pupil progress in a number of different ways. Teachers continually assess the children through a combination of classroom responses, book work and pupil self-assessment. Pupils also sit summative tests in English and maths every term to inform these assessments.
The children sit three statutory assessment tests during their time at Fern Hill: a phonics screening check at the end of Year 1; a multiplication tables check at the end of Year 4 and the KS2 tests (commonly called SATs) at the end of Year 6. Year 6 SATs are externally marked.
The results of our most recent statutory and non-statutory assessments for the school year 2022/2023 are linked below along with results for 2021/2022. Please note that schools are not required to publish their exam and assessment results from the 2019/2020 or 2020/2021 academic years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our children attain significantly above national performance in all areas, putting Fern Hill in the top 20% of primary schools in England.
The Department for Education offers a 'find and compare' service for all schools and colleges in England which is available on their website. You can use this tool to look at performance, Ofsted reports and financial information for any school and compare schools within or outside your area. Information on Fern Hill Primary School is linked here.
